The American Indoor Football (AIF) today announced the cancellation of the scheduled 2026 AIF Championship Game, originally set for May 9, 2026.
This decision follows an unavoidable venue conflict, as the Muskegon Lumberjacks have secured a playoff appearance, resulting in arena unavailability on the scheduled championship date.
The league explored multiple alternatives to reschedule the game; however, doing so has been deemed unfeasible due to logistical constraints, including player housing and availability challenges impacting the Cedar Rapids Titans.
As a result, and in accordance with league policy, the AIF has officially declared the West Michigan Ironmen as the 2026 AIF Champions, based on the league’s best overall regular season record.
“This is a disappointing outcome for everyone involved, especially our players and fans who were looking forward to the championship game,” said AIF Commissioner Terry Foster. “We made every effort to find a solution that would allow the game to be played, but ultimately, the circumstances made that impossible. The Ironmen have earned this recognition through their performance all season, and we congratulate them on a championship-caliber year.”
The AIF extends its appreciation to all teams, players, partners, and fans for their continued support throughout the 2026 season.
